ENROLMENT FAQ

Will my child be accepted into the college if they live outside of the DNA?


Enrolment at TLSC runs in accordance with DET enrolment guidelines. All students living within the direct neighbourhood area (DNA) will be given first priority for enrolment. Students living outside of the DNA will be given an opportunity to enrol at the college should there be capacity for this to occur.

 

Will my child have to wear a uniform?

All students at TLSC wear the approved college uniform. It facilitates the quick and easy identification of our students and allows students to develop a sense of pride and belonging to the college.

Where do we get the uniform and books?

Our uniform supplier is Noone Imagewear. 

Books can be ordered through CAMPION


How big are the class sizes at TLSC?


Class sizes at TLSC run with a maximum number of 25 students.


Which buses run to and from the College?

The college is served by the following Public Transport Buses including from:

  • St Albans (Route 421) via Keilor Downs Plaza

  • St Albans to Watergardens via Taylors Lakes (Route 419) and

  • Moonee Ponds to Sydenham via Keilor, Taylors Lakes and Watergardens (Route 476)

Will my child have their own locker?


Yes – All students are given an individual locker at the beginning of each year. Year 7 student lockers are located in or next to their Year 7 Homegroup Rooms. Students are required to provide a lock to put on their locker.


Will my child study a language at TLSC?


Languages is a core subject in Years 7 – 9 and two languages are offered directly at the college: Italian and Japanese. Students select one language in Year 7 and are expected to continue with the same language until Year 9. Many students continue Languages in Year 10, including the study of additional languages to VCE through Distance Education and Victorian Schools of Languages.

 

What about technology? What devices do you support?

We’re a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school which means students need to bring their own laptop to school charged and ready to go every day.   We do have a program where you can purchase through the school.  We support both PC and Mac, but devices must meet minimum specification requirements.  This information can be found under the Digital Learning Section of the Website.

What other support is offered to students with their studies?

Specialised  programs run to support students with different learning needs.  See the Learning Supports page for more information. 

 

What pathways do you offer?

We offer VCE, VET and VCAL.

Please note that VCAL students need to meet requirements regarding attendance, behaviour and work completion to be considered for the program.

If I have a concern about my child’s safety or wellbeing, who should I contact?

Please contact the relevant Year Level Leader.

How much are the school fees?

For 2021, Essential Student Learning Items are $88 and there are some optional items (year level dependent) also.  There are additional subject charges and these vary depending on the year level and a student’s electives. 

Can I take a tour of the school?

If enrolling across the year, you can contact enrolments@tlsc.vic.edu.au to organise a tour with one of the Assistant Principals. 

For students beginning at year 7, College tours run on Wednesday mornings from March to May.  Bookings essential.
