Biblioteket er en levende, inklusiv og afgørende del af læringsfællesskabet på Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Vores vision er at fremme en vedvarende kærlighed til læsning, at give et attraktivt sted, at det er sikkert, plejende og imødekommende og at fremme et stimulerende miljø, der understøtter læring. Vores travle bibliotek giver et omfattende udvalg af trykte og digitale ressourcer, der understøtter lærings- og undervisningsmålene for vores skole og regelmæssigt er vært for arrangementer og biblioteksrelaterede aktiviteter.
Vores personale er dedikeret til at fremme digital læsefærdighed og til at give eleverne mulighed for at blive kreative, nysgerrige og kritiske 21. århundrede elever og tænkere. Udover at være centralt placeret, er vores bibliotek skolens hjerte.
Infiniti -kataloget giver elever og ansatte mulighed for at søge efter bøger online samt adgang til en kurateret samling af uddannelseswebsteder og Wheelers e -bøger. Vores omfattende samling bestående af skønlitterære romaner, faglitteratur, hurtige læsninger og grafiske romaner er velegnet til en række forskellige læseniveauer og interesser. Lånetiden er tre uger, selvom lån kan forlænges, hvis det kræves.
ClickView online gør det muligt for lærere og elever at få adgang til uddannelsesmæssigt videoindhold, der er blevet oprettet og tilpasset junior- og senior -pensum samt programmer hentet fra kabel- og gratis til tv. NewsBank er en online nyhedsdatabase, der giver et nyhedsarkiv samt adgang til aktuelle udgaver af Age and Herald-Sun.
Biblioteket tilbyder en række forskellige tjenester såsom laminering, indbinding, udskrivning og computerbrug. Vi giver personale og studerende en bred vifte af multimedieudstyr, der inkluderer digital video og still -kameraer, stativer, mikrofoner, adaptere og meget mere.
Vores bibliotek tilbyder også en række fritidsaktiviteter, herunder hjemmearbejdsklub for juniorstuderende hver onsdag efter skole og seniorelever hver torsdag samt en ugentlig bogklub. Bogklubben blev grundlagt i 2010 af fru Earl og søger at dele en gensidig kærlighed til historier og en verden af bøger og fejre mange sjove aktiviteter samt møde forfattere og historiefortællere på vores regelmæssige besøg på Melbourne Writers Festival og Reading Matters Conference på Statsbiblioteket i Victoria.
Vi tilbyder hvert år et sjovt og succesrigt Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge -program, hvor eleverne er i stand til at deltage i konkurrencer og deltage i en særlig ceremoniel frokost for at fejre de elever, der har gennemført udfordringen med succes. Vi er vært for en række forfatterbesøg og særlige begivenheder i løbet af året, herunder en Halloween -fest, boguge -aktiviteter og forældrelærerinterviews.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:15am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
