La biblioteca és una part vibrant, inclusiva i crucial de la comunitat d’aprenentatge del Taylors Lakes Secondary College. La nostra visió és fomentar un amor continu per la lectura, proporcionar un espai atractiu que sigui segur, acollidor i acollidor i promoure un entorn estimulant que doni suport a l’aprenentatge. La nostra ocupada biblioteca ofereix una àmplia gamma de recursos impresos i digitals que donen suport als objectius d’aprenentatge i ensenyament de la nostra escola i acull regularment esdeveniments i activitats relacionades amb la biblioteca.
El nostre personal es dedica a promoure l’alfabetització digital i a capacitar els estudiants perquè esdevinguin aprenents i pensadors creatius, curiosos i crítics del segle XXI. A més de tenir una ubicació cèntrica, la nostra biblioteca és el cor de l’escola.
El catàleg d’Infiniti proporciona als estudiants i al personal la possibilitat de cercar llibres en línia, així com l’accés a una col·lecció de llocs web educatius i llibres electrònics de Wheelers. La nostra extensa col·lecció, que inclou novel·les de ficció, no ficció, lectura ràpida i novel·les gràfiques, és adequada per a diversos nivells i interessos de lectura. El període del préstec és de tres setmanes, tot i que es poden prorrogar si és necessari.
ClickView en línia permet a professors i estudiants accedir a continguts de vídeo educatius que s’han creat i s’han alineat al pla d’estudis per a joves i sèniors, així com a programes provinents de televisió per cable i gratuïta. NewsBank és una base de dades de notícies en línia que proporciona un arxiu de notícies, així com accés a les edicions actuals de Age i Herald-Sun.
La Biblioteca ofereix una gran varietat de serveis, com ara laminació, enquadernació, impressió i ús d’ordinadors. Oferim al personal i als estudiants una àmplia varietat d'equips multimèdia que inclouen càmeres de vídeo i fixes digitals, trípodes, micròfons, adaptadors i molt més.
La nostra biblioteca també ofereix una àmplia gamma d’activitats extraescolars, inclòs el Club de Deures per a estudiants menors cada dimecres després de l’escola i estudiants majors cada dijous, així com un Club de llibres setmanal. Fundat el 2010 per la Sra. Earl, el Book Club busca compartir un amor mutu per les històries i el món del llibre, celebrant moltes activitats agradables, així com reunint autors i narradors de contes en les nostres visites regulars al Melbourne Writers Festival i a la Reading Matters Conference al Biblioteca Estatal de Victòria.
Oferim cada any un divertit i reeixit programa Victory Reading Challenge on els estudiants poden participar en competicions i assistir a un dinar ceremonial especial per celebrar aquells estudiants que han completat amb èxit el Challenge. Allotgem una gran varietat de visites d’autors i esdeveniments especials al llarg de l’any, incloent una celebració de Halloween, activitats de la setmana del llibre i entrevistes de professors i pares.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
