La bibliothèque est un élément dynamique, inclusif et crucial de la communauté d'apprentissage du Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Notre vision est de favoriser un amour continu de la lecture, de fournir un espace attrayant, sûr, stimulant et accueillant et de promouvoir un environnement stimulant qui favorise l'apprentissage. Notre bibliothèque très fréquentée propose une vaste gamme de ressources imprimées et numériques qui soutiennent les objectifs d'apprentissage et d'enseignement de notre école et accueille régulièrement des événements et des activités liées à la bibliothèque.
Notre personnel se consacre à promouvoir la littératie numérique et à donner aux étudiants les moyens de devenir des apprenants et des penseurs créatifs, curieux et critiques du 21e siècle. En plus d'être située au centre, notre bibliothèque est le cœur de l'école.
Le catalogue Infiniti offre aux étudiants et au personnel la possibilité de rechercher des livres en ligne ainsi que l'accès à une collection organisée de sites Web éducatifs et de livres électroniques Wheelers. Notre vaste collection de romans de fiction, de non-fiction, de lectures rapides et de romans graphiques convient à une gamme de niveaux de lecture et d'intérêts. La durée du prêt est de trois semaines, bien que les prêts puissent être prolongés si nécessaire.
ClickView en ligne permet aux enseignants et aux étudiants d'accéder à du contenu vidéo éducatif qui a été créé et aligné sur le programme junior et senior ainsi qu'à des programmes provenant de la télévision par câble et gratuite. NewsBank est une base de données d'actualités en ligne qui fournit des archives d'actualités ainsi qu'un accès aux éditions actuelles de l'Age et du Herald-Sun.
La bibliothèque offre une variété de services tels que la plastification, la reliure, l'impression et l'utilisation de l'ordinateur. Nous fournissons au personnel et aux étudiants une grande variété d'équipements multimédias, notamment des appareils photo numériques et des appareils photo, des trépieds, des microphones, des adaptateurs et bien plus encore.
Notre bibliothèque propose également une gamme d'activités parascolaires, notamment un club de devoirs pour les étudiants juniors tous les mercredis après l'école et les étudiants seniors tous les jeudis ainsi qu'un club de lecture hebdomadaire. Créé en 2010 par Mme Earl, le Book Club cherche à partager un amour mutuel pour les histoires et le monde des livres, en célébrant de nombreuses activités agréables ainsi qu'en rencontrant des auteurs et des conteurs lors de nos visites régulières au Melbourne Writers Festival et à la Reading Matters Conference au Bibliothèque d'État de Victoria.
Nous proposons chaque année un programme de défi de lecture des premiers ministres victoriens amusant et réussi où les étudiants peuvent participer à des compétitions et assister à un déjeuner de cérémonie spécial pour célébrer les étudiants qui ont réussi le défi. Nous organisons une variété de visites d'auteurs et d'événements spéciaux au cours de l'année, notamment une célébration d'Halloween, des activités de la semaine du livre et des entrevues parents-enseignants.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
