Knjižnica je živahen, vključujoč in ključni del učne skupnosti na srednji šoli Taylors Lakes. Naša vizija je spodbujati nenehno ljubezen do branja, zagotoviti privlačen prostor, ki je varen, neguje in pozdravlja ter spodbujati spodbudno okolje, ki podpira učenje. Naša bogata knjižnica ponuja široko paleto tiskanih in digitalnih virov, ki podpirajo učne in učne cilje naše šole ter redno gostijo dogodke in knjižnične dejavnosti.
Naše osebje je predano spodbujanju digitalne pismenosti in opolnomočenju študentov, da postanejo ustvarjalni, radovedni in kritični učenci in misleci 21. stoletja. Poleg centralne lokacije je naša knjižnica tudi srce šole.
Katalog Infiniti študentom in osebju omogoča iskanje knjig na spletu ter dostop do kurirane zbirke izobraževalnih spletnih mest in e -knjig Wheelers. Naša obsežna zbirka, ki vsebuje leposlovne romane, leposlovje, hitro branje in grafične romane, je primerna za različne stopnje branja in interese. Obdobje posojila je tri tedne, čeprav se lahko po potrebi podaljša.
ClickView na spletu učiteljem in študentom omogoča dostop do izobraževalnih video vsebin, ki so bile ustvarjene in usklajene z učnim načrtom za mlajše in starejše, pa tudi do programov iz kabelske in brezplačne televizije. NewsBank je spletna baza novic, ki ponuja arhiv novic in dostop do aktualnih izdaj Age in Herald-Sun.
Knjižnica ponuja različne storitve, kot so laminiranje, vezava, tiskanje in uporaba računalnika. Osebju in študentom nudimo široko paleto multimedijske opreme, ki vključuje digitalne video in fotoaparate, stojala, mikrofone, adapterje in še veliko več.
Naša knjižnica ponuja tudi vrsto izvenšolskih dejavnosti, vključno s Klubom domačih nalog za mlajše učence vsako sredo po šoli in starejšimi učenci vsak četrtek ter tedenski Knjižni klub. Knjižni klub, ki ga je leta 2010 ustanovila gospa Earl, si prizadeva deliti medsebojno ljubezen do zgodb in sveta knjig, ki praznuje številne prijetne dejavnosti ter se srečuje z avtorji in pripovedovalci zgodb na naših rednih obiskih na Festivalu pisateljev v Melbournu in na konferenci Reading Matters na Državna knjižnica Victoria.
Vsako leto nudimo zabaven in uspešen program Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge, kjer se učenci lahko udeležijo tekmovanj in se udeležijo posebnega slovesnega kosila v počastitev tistih študentov, ki so uspešno zaključili izziv. Med letom gostijo različne obiske avtorjev in posebne dogodke, med drugim praznovanje noči čarovnic, dejavnosti tedna knjige in razgovore z učitelji.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
