La Biblioteca è una parte vibrante, inclusiva e cruciale della comunità di apprendimento del Taylors Lakes Secondary College. La nostra visione è promuovere un amore continuo per la lettura, fornire uno spazio attraente che sia sicuro, nutriente e accogliente e promuovere un ambiente stimolante che supporti l'apprendimento. La nostra ricca biblioteca offre una vasta gamma di risorse cartacee e digitali che supportano gli obiettivi di apprendimento e insegnamento della nostra scuola e ospita regolarmente eventi e attività legate alla biblioteca.
Il nostro personale è dedicato alla promozione dell'alfabetizzazione digitale e alla capacità degli studenti di diventare studenti e pensatori creativi, curiosi e critici del 21° secolo. Oltre ad essere situata in posizione centrale, la nostra biblioteca è il cuore della scuola.
Il catalogo Infiniti offre agli studenti e al personale la possibilità di cercare libri online e l'accesso a una raccolta curata di siti Web educativi e eBook Wheelers. La nostra vasta collezione che comprende romanzi di fiction, saggistica, letture veloci e graphic novel è adatta a una vasta gamma di livelli di lettura e interessi. La durata del prestito è di tre settimane, anche se i prestiti possono essere estesi se necessario.
ClickView online consente a insegnanti e studenti di accedere a contenuti video educativi che sono stati creati e allineati al curriculum junior e senior, nonché a programmi provenienti dalla televisione via cavo e in chiaro. NewsBank è un database di notizie online che fornisce un archivio di notizie e l'accesso alle edizioni correnti di Age e Herald-Sun.
La Biblioteca offre una varietà di servizi come la plastificazione, la rilegatura, la stampa e l'uso del computer. Forniamo al personale e agli studenti un'ampia varietà di attrezzature multimediali che includono video digitali e fotocamere fisse, treppiedi, microfoni, adattatori e molto altro.
La nostra biblioteca offre anche una serie di attività extracurriculari tra cui Homework Club per studenti junior ogni mercoledì dopo la scuola e studenti senior ogni giovedì e un Book Club settimanale. Fondato nel 2010 dalla signora Earl, Book Club cerca di condividere l'amore reciproco per le storie e il mondo dei libri, celebrando molte attività divertenti e incontrando autori e narratori durante le nostre visite regolari al Melbourne Writers Festival e alla Reading Matters Conference al Biblioteca di Stato di Victoria.
Ogni anno mettiamo a disposizione un divertente e riuscito programma della Sfida di lettura Premiers del Victoria in cui gli studenti possono partecipare a concorsi e partecipare a uno speciale pranzo cerimoniale per celebrare gli studenti che hanno completato con successo la Sfida. Ospitiamo una varietà di visite agli autori ed eventi speciali nel corso dell'anno, tra cui una celebrazione di Halloween, attività della settimana del libro e interviste ai genitori e agli insegnanti.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
