Perpustakaan adalah bagian penting, inklusif dan penting dari komunitas belajar di Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Visi kami adalah untuk menumbuhkan kecintaan membaca yang berkelanjutan, untuk menyediakan ruang yang menarik yang aman, memelihara dan menyambut dan untuk mempromosikan lingkungan yang merangsang yang mendukung pembelajaran. Perpustakaan kami yang sibuk menyediakan berbagai sumber daya cetak dan digital yang mendukung tujuan pembelajaran dan pengajaran sekolah kami dan secara teratur menyelenggarakan acara dan kegiatan terkait perpustakaan.
Staf kami berdedikasi untuk mempromosikan literasi digital dan memberdayakan siswa untuk menjadi pembelajar dan pemikir abad ke-21 yang kreatif, ingin tahu, dan kritis. Selain terletak di pusat, perpustakaan kami adalah jantung sekolah.
Katalog Infiniti memberi siswa dan staf kemampuan untuk mencari buku secara online serta akses ke koleksi situs web pendidikan dan eBook Wheelers yang dikuratori. Koleksi ekstensif kami yang terdiri dari novel fiksi, non-fiksi, bacaan cepat, dan novel grafis cocok untuk berbagai tingkat dan minat membaca. Jangka waktu pinjaman adalah tiga minggu, meskipun pinjaman dapat diperpanjang jika diperlukan.
ClickView online memungkinkan guru dan siswa untuk mengakses konten video pendidikan yang telah dibuat dan disesuaikan dengan kurikulum junior dan senior serta program yang bersumber dari televisi kabel dan free to air. NewsBank adalah database berita online yang menyediakan arsip berita serta akses ke edisi terkini Age dan Herald-Sun.
Perpustakaan menawarkan berbagai layanan seperti laminating, penjilidan, pencetakan dan penggunaan komputer. Kami menyediakan staf dan siswa dengan berbagai macam peralatan multimedia yang meliputi video digital dan kamera diam, tripod, mikrofon, adaptor dan banyak lagi.
Perpustakaan kami juga menyediakan berbagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler termasuk Klub Pekerjaan Rumah untuk siswa junior setiap hari Rabu sepulang sekolah dan siswa senior setiap hari Kamis serta Klub Buku mingguan. Didirikan pada tahun 2010 oleh Ms Earl, Book Club berusaha untuk saling berbagi cinta cerita dan dunia buku, merayakan banyak kegiatan yang menyenangkan serta bertemu penulis dan pendongeng pada kunjungan rutin kami ke Melbourne Writers Festival dan Reading Matters Conference di Perpustakaan Negara Bagian Victoria.
Kami menyediakan program Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge yang menyenangkan dan sukses setiap tahun di mana siswa dapat berpartisipasi dalam kompetisi dan menghadiri makan siang seremonial khusus untuk merayakan siswa yang telah berhasil menyelesaikan Tantangan. Kami menyelenggarakan berbagai kunjungan penulis dan acara khusus sepanjang tahun termasuk perayaan Halloween, kegiatan minggu buku dan wawancara dengan Orang Tua Guru.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:15am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
