Die Bibliothek ist ein lebendiger, integrativer und wichtiger Teil der Lerngemeinschaft am Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Unsere Vision ist es, eine anhaltende Liebe zum Lesen zu fördern, einen attraktiven Ort zu schaffen, der sicher, pflegend und einladend ist und eine anregende Umgebung zu fördern, die das Lernen unterstützt. Unsere geschäftige Bibliothek bietet ein umfangreiches Angebot an gedruckten und digitalen Ressourcen, die die Lern- und Lehrziele unserer Schule unterstützen und veranstaltet regelmäßig Veranstaltungen und bibliotheksbezogene Aktivitäten.
Unsere Mitarbeiter sind bestrebt, die digitale Kompetenz zu fördern und die Schüler zu befähigen, kreative, neugierige und kritische Lernende und Denker des 21. Jahrhunderts zu werden. Unsere Bibliothek ist nicht nur zentral gelegen, sondern auch das Herz der Schule.
Der Infiniti-Katalog bietet Studenten und Mitarbeitern die Möglichkeit, online nach Büchern zu suchen, sowie Zugang zu einer kuratierten Sammlung von Bildungs-Websites und Wheelers eBooks. Unsere umfangreiche Sammlung mit Belletristik, Sachbüchern, Kurzlektüren und Graphic Novels ist für unterschiedliche Leseniveaus und Interessen geeignet. Die Leihfrist beträgt drei Wochen, kann aber bei Bedarf verlängert werden.
ClickView online ermöglicht Lehrern und Schülern den Zugriff auf Lehrvideoinhalte, die erstellt und auf den Lehrplan für Junioren und Senioren abgestimmt wurden, sowie auf Programme aus dem Kabel- und frei empfangbaren Fernsehen. NewsBank ist eine Online-Nachrichtendatenbank, die ein Nachrichtenarchiv sowie Zugriff auf aktuelle Ausgaben von Age und Herald-Sun bietet.
Die Bibliothek bietet eine Vielzahl von Dienstleistungen wie Laminieren, Binden, Drucken und Computernutzung an. Wir bieten Mitarbeitern und Studenten eine breite Palette an Multimedia-Ausstattung, darunter digitale Video- und Fotokameras, Stative, Mikrofone, Adapter und vieles mehr.
Unsere Bibliothek bietet auch eine Reihe von außerschulischen Aktivitäten an, darunter den Hausaufgabenclub für jüngere Schüler jeden Mittwoch nach der Schule und ältere Schüler jeden Donnerstag sowie einen wöchentlichen Buchclub. Der 2010 von Frau Earl gegründete Book Club möchte die gemeinsame Liebe zu Geschichten und der Welt der Bücher teilen, feiert viele unterhaltsame Aktivitäten und trifft Autoren und Geschichtenerzähler bei unseren regelmäßigen Besuchen des Melbourne Writers Festival und der Reading Matters Conference im Staatsbibliothek von Victoria.
Wir bieten jedes Jahr ein unterhaltsames und erfolgreiches Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge-Programm an, bei dem die Schüler an Wettbewerben teilnehmen und an einem besonderen zeremoniellen Mittagessen teilnehmen können, um die Schüler zu feiern, die die Challenge erfolgreich abgeschlossen haben. Wir veranstalten im Laufe des Jahres eine Vielzahl von Autorenbesuchen und besonderen Veranstaltungen, darunter eine Halloween-Feier, Aktivitäten in der Buchwoche und Interviews mit den Eltern.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
