De bibliotheek is een levendig, inclusief en cruciaal onderdeel van de leergemeenschap van Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Onze visie is om een voortdurende liefde voor lezen te bevorderen, een aantrekkelijke ruimte te bieden die veilig, koesterend en gastvrij is en om een stimulerende omgeving te bevorderen die het leren ondersteunt. Onze drukke bibliotheek biedt een uitgebreid scala aan gedrukte en digitale bronnen die de leer- en onderwijsdoelen van onze school ondersteunen en organiseert regelmatig evenementen en bibliotheekgerelateerde activiteiten.
Onze medewerkers zetten zich in om digitale geletterdheid te bevorderen en studenten in staat te stellen creatieve, nieuwsgierige en kritische 21e-eeuwse leerlingen en denkers te worden. Onze bibliotheek is niet alleen centraal gelegen, maar ook het hart van de school.
De Infiniti-catalogus biedt studenten en medewerkers de mogelijkheid om online naar boeken te zoeken, evenals toegang tot een samengestelde verzameling educatieve websites en Wheelers eBooks. Onze uitgebreide collectie bestaande uit fictieromans, non-fictie, quick reads en graphic novels is geschikt voor verschillende leesniveaus en interesses. De uitleentermijn is drie weken, hoewel de lening indien nodig kan worden verlengd.
ClickView online geeft docenten en studenten toegang tot educatieve video-inhoud die is gemaakt en afgestemd op het junior- en seniorcurriculum, evenals programma's afkomstig van kabel- en free-to-air-televisie. NewsBank is een online nieuwsdatabase met een nieuwsarchief en toegang tot actuele edities van de Age en Herald-Sun.
De Bibliotheek biedt verschillende diensten aan zoals lamineren, inbinden, printen en computergebruik. Wij bieden medewerkers en studenten een breed scala aan multimedia-apparatuur, waaronder digitale video- en fotocamera's, statieven, microfoons, adapters en nog veel meer.
Onze bibliotheek biedt ook een scala aan buitenschoolse activiteiten, waaronder een huiswerkclub voor junior studenten elke woensdag na school en senior studenten elke donderdag, evenals een wekelijkse boekenclub. Book Club, opgericht in 2010 door mevrouw Earl, probeert een wederzijdse liefde voor verhalen en de wereld van boeken te delen, vele plezierige activiteiten te vieren en auteurs en verhalenvertellers te ontmoeten tijdens onze regelmatige bezoeken aan het Melbourne Writers Festival en de Reading Matters Conference op de Staatsbibliotheek van Victoria.
We bieden elk jaar een leuk en succesvol Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge-programma waar studenten kunnen deelnemen aan wedstrijden en een speciale ceremoniële lunch bijwonen om de studenten te vieren die de Challenge met succes hebben voltooid. We organiseren in de loop van het jaar een verscheidenheid aan auteursbezoeken en speciale evenementen, waaronder een Halloween-feest, boekenweekactiviteiten en interviews met ouders.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:00am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Thursday and to 4:00pm on Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
