Biblioteka je živahan, inkluzivan i ključan dio zajednice za učenje na srednjem koledžu Taylors Lakes. Naša vizija je njegovanje stalne ljubavi prema čitanju, pružanje atraktivnog prostora u kojem je sigurno, njegovanje i dobrodošlicu te promicanje poticajnog okruženja koje podržava učenje. Naša bogata biblioteka nudi široki raspon štampanih i digitalnih izvora koji podržavaju ciljeve učenja i poučavanja naše škole i redovno ugošćuje događaje i bibliotečke aktivnosti.
Naše osoblje posvećeno je promicanju digitalne pismenosti i osnaživanju učenika da postanu kreativni, znatiželjni i kritični učenici i mislioci 21. stoljeća. Osim što je centralno smještena, naša biblioteka je srce škole.
Infiniti katalog pruža studentima i osoblju mogućnost pretraživanja knjiga na internetu, kao i pristup uređenoj zbirci obrazovnih web stranica i e -knjiga Wheelers. Naša opsežna zbirka koja se sastoji od fantastičnih romana, publicistike, brzog čitanja i grafičkih romana pogodna je za različite nivoe čitanja i interesovanja. Period kredita je tri nedelje, mada se krediti mogu produžiti ako je potrebno.
ClickView na mreži omogućava nastavnicima i učenicima pristup obrazovnim video sadržajima koji su stvoreni i usklađeni s nastavnim planom i programom za mlađe i starije, kao i programima koji dolaze s kabelske i besplatne televizije. NewsBank je internetska baza vijesti koja nudi arhivu vijesti, kao i pristup trenutnim izdanjima Age i Herald-Sun.
Biblioteka nudi razne usluge, poput laminiranja, uvezivanja, štampanja i upotrebe računara. Osoblju i studentima nudimo široku paletu multimedijske opreme koja uključuje digitalne video i fotoaparate, stative, mikrofone, adaptere i još mnogo toga.
Naša biblioteka nudi i niz vannastavnih aktivnosti, uključujući Klub domaćih zadataka za učenike mlađeg uzrasta svake srijede nakon škole i studente svakog četvrtka, kao i sedmični Klub knjiga. Klub knjiga, koji je 2010. osnovala gospođa Earl, Book Club nastoji podijeliti zajedničku ljubav prema pričama i svijetu knjiga, slaveći mnoge ugodne aktivnosti, kao i susrećući se s autorima i pripovjedačima u našim redovnim posjetama Festivalu pisaca u Melbourneu i Konferenciji Reading Matters na Državna biblioteka Viktorije.
Svake godine nudimo zabavan i uspješan program čitanja Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge gdje studenti mogu učestvovati na takmičenjima i prisustvovati posebnom svečanom ručku u znak proslave studentima koji su uspješno završili izazov. Tokom godine ugošćujemo razne autorove posjete i posebne događaje, uključujući proslavu Noći vještica, aktivnosti na sedmici knjige i intervjue s roditeljima.
The library is a vibrant, inclusive, and crucial part of the learning community at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Our vision is to foster an ongoing love of reading, to provide an attractive space that it is safe, nurturing, and welcoming, and to promote a stimulating environment that is supportive of learning. Our busy library provides an extensive range of print and digital resources that supports the learning and teaching goals of our school and regularly hosts events and library related activities.
The start of 2023 was an extra exciting time for the library team and school community with the unveiling of an impressive and innovative upgrade to the library facilities. The newly refurbished learning space better fosters creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing. Our library is unique and students who pass through our doors reap the many benefits of having such a modern and attractive library. The renovation completely transformed the school library into a new and collaborative learning space that students and staff connect with and are excited by.
Our staff are dedicated to promoting digital literacy and to empowering students to become creative, curious, and critical 21st century learners and thinkers. As well as being centrally located, we see our library as being the heart of the school.
The Infiniti catalogue provides students and staff with the ability to search for books online as well as access to a curated collection of educational websites and Wheelers eBooks. Our extensive collection comprising of fiction novels, non-fiction, quick reads, and graphic novels is suitable for a range of reading levels and interests. The loan period is three weeks, although loans can be extended if required.
ClickView online enables teachers and students to access educational video content that has been created and aligned to the junior and senior curriculum as well as programs sourced from cable and free to air television. Students have access to the digital version of the Age newspaper through Compass. The Age newspaper provides daily issues as well as four months of previous editions.
The library offers a variety of services such as such as laminating, binding, printing, and computer use. We provide staff and students with a wide variety of multimedia equipment which include digital video and still cameras, tripods, microphones, adaptors and much more.
Our library also provides a range of extracurricular activities including Homework Club for junior students every Wednesday after school and senior students every Thursday.
We provide a fun and successful Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge programme every year where students can participate in competitions and attend a special ceremonial lunch to celebrate those students that have successfully completed the Challenge. We host a variety of author visits and special events over the course of the year including a Halloween celebration, Book Week activities and Parent-Teacher interviews.
On top of our recent upgrade, our library is accessible to all students throughout the school day. We are open before school from 8:15am, at recess and lunchtimes, as well as after school to 4:30pm Monday through to Friday. We love providing students and staff with the facilities to learn and grow and welcome everyone into our warm library with open arms.
