MIDDLE YEARS
From year 7-9 the curriculum is organised within Domains based on the VELS structure. This curriculum is co-ordinated in a structured manner to provide a vibrant program across the middle years. Team planning and moderation between teachers at Domain level (especially in the English Domain) has seen the growth of successful student programs.
The construction of the Space (flexible learning centre) in 2006 as part of the Leading Schools program has provided a special impetus for developing targeted problem solving and Thinking programs for students particularly within the middle years.
A literacy and numeracy support program in Years 7-9 was established in 2006 to work in conjunction with the English and Mathematics programs. It is in these subject areas that students make use of the space as part of their weekly learning program.
There is a strong culture of investing in professional development for staff. Meeting structures that support this culture have been important. In a more general sense, the school has a reputation as one that embraces a change agenda and this has been demonstrated through curriculum development particularly within the Middle Years.
A new assessment and reporting policy was developed and endorsed for 2008 implementation.

LATER YEARS
Taylors Lakes Secondary College has built up an excellent reputation as a VCE provider. Each year we congratulate students gaining outstanding results across many different subjects and courses. Other school publications proudly display the achievements of our past students. Large numbers of our VCE students seek and gain entry to further study in the University and TAFE sectors.
Other students have moved directly to employment or pre employment training courses. Careful planning of a Year 10 course is the first step in preparing for VCE. Many students will commence their VCE whilst in year 10. Our Managed Individual Pathways Program (MIPs) has enabled all students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to meet on a regular basis to discuss and seek advice as necessary on career and further study directions.
As a school we have a commitment to close monitoring of the progress and future ambitions of all students at senior levels.
We are one of the largest VCE providers in the City Of Brimbank. The College also offers students the opportunity to complete the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). We have a strong acceleration program within the VCE and students are encouraged to seriously consider this if appropriate. We also offer flexibility in designing programs for students wishing to consider part time study.
Our approach is to encourage all students to achieve to the best of their ability and we provide every opportunity for them to do so. Students will benefit from our co-ordinated program of induction and motivation sessions. These programs run at levels 10, 11 and 12.
We supplement this with a weekly study session for any students identified as needing additional support to complete work or students looking to seek extra assistance with their work. In addition, our VCE Homegroup Teachers and Co-ordinators monitor the welfare needs of our students as well as keeping a close watch on attendance requirements
